The Puig d’en Valls windmill overlooks the whole valley of Ibiza Town
Puig d’en Valls is the name of a hill close to Ibiza Town, and its windmill stands at the top. Since the 18th century, the Puig d’en Valls windmill has been visible from all over the town’s valley. Getting there is quite easy from the old Sant Mateu road, where the village is.
At the first junction, known as Calle de la Paz, turn and head up Calle del Molino. You can walk the last stretch, through the gardens that surround the Puig d’en Valls windmill.
A flour mill through and through
The Puig d’en Valls windmill ground grain from the day it was built until it fell into disuse, after the Civil War. From then on it was mostly decorative, until in 1992 it was bought by the Consell Insular, which partly restored the building and the machinery inside.
