Niu Blau Beach. Exploring the coast of Santa Eulalia

You walk down to the beach on some steps with a ramp alongside, which pass the only restaurant here. Before going down, on your left, you will see a few boats that look stranded far from the sea: in fact it is a very shallow inlet that shelters small sailing and motor boats. The water is so shallow that, for about twenty metres from the left-hand side, stretches of rock break the surface and act as a natural breakwater.

To the right, the beach stretches for about a hundred metres in length and some twelve metres in width.

The landscape is quite unusual: large pine woods that in places mingle with the parasols and sun loungers. The ground changes from stone to a coarse, compacted sand, a mix of sand and seaweed. At the far end there is an access path from a residential development next to the beach and, beyond it, a stretch of low rock from which you can see Santa Eulària in the distance.

The seabed barely slopes: there are more than thirty metres of shallow water. The wind usually blows gently and onshore, which makes it even safer. To get around on the water there are pedal boats, and here noise is usually the exception.
