Barrau Museum, a painter’s life
The life of the painter Barrau in a small corner of Santa Eulària
Right on the Puig de Missa, in a prime spot facing the church door, stands the house-museum dedicated to Barcelona-born Laureà Barrau i Buñol. He was born in Barcelona on 27 December 1863 into a middle-class family, began his training at the Barcelona School of Fine Arts and completed his studies in Madrid, Paris and Rome. He took part in many exhibitions and received numerous awards for his work. In 1911 he moved to Ibiza, and around 1930 he settled with his wife, Berta Vallier, in this house on the Puig de Missa, where he lived until his death on 21 October 1957. In 1963 his widow opened the museum here.
