The Church of Santa Gertrudis gives life to a place well known by the inhabitants of the island
Santa Gertrudis is located in the heart of the island Of Ibiza. From this locality they depart roads to the four cardinal points. The most common routes depart from the South Zone, coming from the road of Sant Antoni or, from the road of Santa Eulária. The access to the Church Of Santa Gertrudis is quite simple, because we only have to take the left turn, if we Come from Ibiza, and access ascending, towards a pedestrian area where the church is located.

History of the Church of Santa Gertrudis
The Church Of Santa Gertrudis Martyr began its construction in 1785, ending the work at the end of the same century. It has many similarities with the rest of the island’s churches, fulfilling its religious and defensive mission, although due to its situation in the middle of the island, it was safe from maritime attacks. It presents a very unusual colour, mixing the typical white facade with details in vivid orange tones that offer a more artistic composition. The porch of the entrance, built towards the end of the NINETEENTH century, has a peculiar image of Christ on the front door. Moreover, the lateral walls differ considerably from the rest of the churches, since one contains numerous doors and windows, atypical in this type of constructions, that make think of an additive after the original building, next to the furnace located in the opposite wall.
