San Vicente Tourist Guide
San Vicente de sa Cala is a one-of-a-kind spot, with a stunning coastline and an extraordinary rural landscape.
North of the village of Sant Carles, within the municipality of Sant Joan, lies Sant Vicent de sa Cala. It is made up of the rural districts (vendes) of Cas Negres, Cas Rierons, Cas Serres, Missa, es Port, s’Àguila and s’Almànguena.
Sant Vicent sits on the slope of a small hill, with pine woods behind it. It is more of a hamlet than a village: a handful of houses built around the church of Sant Vicent, which dates from the 19th century.
Country life in Sant Vicent
There are so few houses because a mountainous area stands between Sant Vicent and Santa Eulària, which left the district cut off by land until the road was built at the end of the 20th century. Until then, the only way to get there was by sea, through the fishing harbour of Cala de Sant Vicent. The village is hard to find: as well as being poorly signposted, every sign takes you to the cove rather than the village. To visit it, take the road that runs from Cala de Sant Vicent towards neighbouring Sant Joan.
