Aguas Blancas Beach. The mud beach

The seabed is much the same, sand and rock, with a very gentle slope: you can stand up to about thirty metres from the shore.

A strong onshore wind often blows here, so protect your skin well from the sun.

What makes this beach special is its landscape, shaped by erosion. It is one of the best-known nudist beaches in Ibiza.

Bear in mind that it is an unsupervised beach with no municipal services: there are no lifeguards. The cliffs are prone to rockfalls, so do not settle on their slopes or at the foot of the rock faces, and keep to the signposted areas.

So much for the basics. Now let us tell you what this beach is really like.

There are three ways down to the shore, although two are hard to find. The usual one, signposted from the road, ends in a very steep slope: watch out for the climb back up, which is really tiring.

Once you get down the last stretch, which has steps, you reach a fairly wide part of the beach where nearly everyone gathers. You can stay there or explore a little further, which is what we suggest. To the left are the famous mud baths. Wear shoes you can get wet or take off easily, because if the sea rises you will be wet up to your shins. After a few metres you will start to see people smeared in mud up to their eyebrows. We do not know what properties the mud has, but we do know it is taken from a hole in the rock. A little further on, the beach disappears among the stones from the rockfalls; perhaps that is why its sand is much coarser than on the rest of the island.

If you head to the right, you will have to cross a narrow strip of sand at the foot of a very high rock face; it is only a few metres, but do not stop underneath. After that the beach widens again and the atmosphere is calmer. A few islets rise out of the water: they are large boulders that have broken away. We do not recommend swimming out to them, because there is sometimes a strong current. The beach ends opposite a crag that looks about to fall: it is the natural boundary with Es Figueral. If you are looking for a quieter atmosphere, that second beach is a better choice and easier to reach, with the same features, minus the mud.

Because of the way it faces the sun and the height of the rock walls around it, there are few hours of sunlight here, and you cannot see the sunset from the beach.
