Pou de Forada, a well steeped in rural Ibizan tradition
An old water well out in the countryside, between Sant Rafel, Santa Agnès and Sant Mateu
Pou de Forada, or the Forada well, sits at a strategic point in the area, almost in the middle of Sant Antoni, Sant Mateu, Santa Agnès, Santa Gertrudis and Sant Rafel, close to the church of Buscastell, in the municipality of Sant Antoni. The easiest way to get there is to leave Sant Rafel heading towards Santa Agnès. When you reach the junction for those villages, the well is on your right, at the end of a dirt track.
What you will find at Pou de Forada
It is a covered well with an opening at the front, surrounded by a wide clearing in the middle of the countryside, perfect for spending a day outdoors. In Ibiza, dancing beside wells and springs was a way of celebrating the end of the harvest and paying tribute to water.
Pou de Forada keeps that tradition alive: every year in October, the Grup Folklòric Brisa de Portmany holds a rural festival by the well, with ball pagès folk dancing, traditional games and frita de porc.

Es Pouet Beach belongs to the municipality of Sant Antoni and is very close to the town, barely a kilometre and a half from the centre and about seventeen kilometres from Ibiza Town.
