Tourist Guide to Santa Inés or Santa Agnés de Corona

Santa Inés, or Santa Agnés de Corona, is a small, welcoming village surrounded by spectacular countryside.

Santa Ines

Santa Agnés de Corona is a small farming village in the inland north-west of the island. It belongs to the municipality of Sant Antoni and lies about 6 km north-west of its main town.

The centre of Santa Agnés, better known as Santa Inés, is tiny, and the parish is split into three vendas: Pla de Corona, Sant Gelabert and Ses Rotes.

A venda is a wide farming area where the country houses stand apart from one another, separated by cultivated fields. It is a cornerstone of Ibizan culture, and every venda had to have access to drinking water, which was scarce on an island with no rivers to speak of. Hence wells such as the Pou des Pla de Corona.

Rural landscape

The village’s other hallmark is its church. Completed in the early 19th century, it stands out for its simplicity and its whitewashed walls.

But the real draw of Santa Inés comes between January and February, when the almond orchards are in bloom. It is the classic image of the area: the land turns pink and white with the blossom.

All along the way you will be surrounded by a rural landscape of almond trees, pastures and sheep. Santa Agnés keeps all the flavour of the Ibiza of old: a place to find yourself and not be found.
