Pelleta d'en Serra. Looking at Ses Salines
On a top, after a path of stones, we found the wood of the Serra
About five kilometres east of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia we find the “Caserío d’en Serra”. Access to this chapel is through the road linking the town of Sant Josep with the airport. We will find a deviation to the way of Serra a kilometer and a half after leaving Sant Josep. From This point we will enter by the road of Benimusa to the skirt of a valley to our right. It Is important to look at the signs that mark the direction to the chapel if we do not have GPS. From this point, we find ourselves on a dirt road in good condition. There is a constant zigzag until you reach the foothills of the mountain where you will find La Papelleta D’en Serra. At the end of the road in front of a house, we parked the car.

Climbing to Papelleta d’en Serra
The Road to the chapel is quite steep. At first, a staircase gives us a comfortable access to a path. From here, a somewhat slippery path through the accumulated stones leads to a well first, and an improvised altar. We Are in the place of prayer and celebration of the La Papelleta d’en Serra. The views start to be very nice, but a few feet above, expect the best. Arriving at the chapel, built by Vicente Serra in 1919 according to the official poster, presents a square look topped with a cross over the door. The Letters V and S (Vicente Serra) are located on the sides of the entrance. Inside, a curious image of Christ with farmersed skirts and many photographs and legends. On the outside, beautiful views over the salt-lining are the reward of those who visit this beautiful place.
History of Sa Papelleta
Inside the chapel, we can find a text framed, published by the Congrés de Cultura Pitiüsa en 1980, which brings a somewhat free translation. “The construction of the Capilla d’en Serra is better known as” Sa Pelleta “… The cause for which the chapel was built is the following. A man named Vicent Serra, had to leave for the war of the Alger, and there he made the promise that if he could go home, he would erect a chapel at the top of Puig d’en Serra. He Could come back and he did. He’s going to build it himself. Similarly, the ceramic Christ was modeled by his hands and transported to the chapel on April 23, 1919. The Chapel will be blessed on the evening of May 29, 1919, but Vincent Serra could not see it. He Had died five days before, from a heart attack. I was 74 years old. So He could not do the Cross-sculpted Way of the rock, as he intended. ”
