The church greets you at the entrance to Santa Agnés de Corona, a parish in the municipality of Sant Antoni made up of scattered houses across the Pla de Corona, a fertile plain of reddish soil in the Es Amunts area. The easiest way in is from Sant Antoni, about 6 km away: the road climbs through the mountains and opens out onto a plain full of almond trees.
History of the church of Santa Agnés
Construction of the church of Santa Agnés began in 1785, on the initiative of the first bishop of Ibiza, Manuel Abad y Lasierra, and was completed in the early 19th century. It is surrounded by a square that ends, at the back, at the entrance to the village cemetery. It is an unusual church: although it has a main entrance on the façade facing the square, the porch typical of Ibizan churches is on one side.
It is a low, whitewashed church with a single vaulted nave and six side chapels. Inside you can still see an image of the Virgin of the Rosary from the same period as the church.
