Tourism in Ibiza Sant Miquel

Ibiza Turismo Sant Miquel

Life in the North of the island is another story. A history of legends and pure air. Small and green fields populated. When we speak of Ibiza tourism is entertainment. When we speak of Sant Miquel, tourism is the most absolute of the quiet.

How to get there.

Sant Miquel is located halfway between Sant Mateu, Sant Llorenç and Sant Joan. You can access the city centre through any of these three places. Access is quite comfortable. There is also a departure for the well-known port of Sant Miquel, a tourist and highly visible area from the village, but remote enough to alter the calm of the village.

That I can find.

A few streets make up the urban core. Cosy and low houses. Some bars and restaurants at the entrance. And of course, the ascent to the fortified church of Sant Miquel, a route that we recommend walk. Roadside crosses mark the way.

The Church of Sant Miquel

This iglesia-fortificacion data according to the official version of the 17TH century, although many authors date its construction in the 13TH century, on the basis of very previous constructions. What everyone seems to agree, it is that its construction is based on a cross-shaped plant, which were subsequently added two buildings for religious use.

We have one of the most authentic symbols of the deep Ibiza. A place where only is collects peace and the peaceful feeling of the people of the field. The walls whitewashed form a stamping typical of the island. North wall, surrounded by unusual vegetation, is exposed, revealing a beautiful construction in a more typical landscape of the North of the peninsula.

Summer Sundays give way to a demonstration of traditional dancing and a small craft market. Not to be missed.

The statue of Marià Villangómez

Marià Villangómez (1913-2002) was one of the most important writers of the Ibizan literature. Son of good family, studied at Palma, Murcia, Barcelona and Valencia. Writer of verse and prose, taught in Sant Miquel de Balansat since 1946 where he began a prolific literary work that led him to publish numerous magazines and newspapers. A statue honors him with a deep sense of peace.
