Cala Jondal is one of those beaches in Ibiza which, despite keep its natural splendor, has changed its appearance due to tourism. The typical “codols” songs shot, still covering an extensive shore. For sea lovers who hate the sand, Cala Jondal is a wonderful option. However, tastes and colors, the edge that separates us from the civilization has left behind the typical beach bar to give way to the musical atmosphere, wooden stage and people chic.
How to get to Cala Jondal.
Half way between the beautiful cliffs of Es Cubells and Sa Caleta, Cala Jondal is a beach accessible from both places. Our recommendation is to start always from the airport road. Unless you want to get in a somewhat winding route along the beaches of Sant Josep, we invite you to to take the immediate diversion by the Ponderosa bar at the exit of the airport. After a sharp right curve, you will see a cross towards to Sa Caleta. We find a few kilometers, at the turn-off to Es Codolar, the single point of provisioning in kilometers, so take advantage to buy if something is still missing.
We continue our tour to spend the Phoenician settlement of Sa Caleta, together with its beach. In the following deviation, a few meters before, Cala Jondal awaits us.
Three bars, three main rooms in Cala Jondal.
It was curious to get to the beach and find us a “vigilant” in the first of the three entrances to the beach. We find the reason in the parking lot of the first VIP bar which occupies the beach. Well, the parking is theirs, but the beach obviously not.
We continued on the second access and parked. The piped music surprises us a little more than a large wood flooring full of young people basking in the Sun. As we see a third bar, we get closer to check if it convinces us more the environment. This is much quieter and more elderly tourists calmly lie on their typical hammock. Here the boulders have disappeared and gave way to the sand.
As we dressed for the occasion, we decided to sit a while on the stones and rest. They are not so uncomfortable. From the bars people down through a boardwalk enabled more delicate feet. The shore is clear edges, so the bathroom is nice. Anyway the Fund returns to be somewhat Rocky, so better enter with appropriate footwear. Two hours of sunlight in the evening of may have topped US batteries. Cala Jondalviews, spectacular.
