The human presence in this municipality has been established in the prehistoric era. After the passage of Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Muslims, Christians arrived to give in the 13TH century the name to Xarc, calling it as Quarto del Rei, in reference to one of the rooms in which the island was divided, and later Santa Eularia, in honor of the Chapel which rose to that Virgin. The richness of Santa Eularia was not based on its urban nucleus, rather scarce, but on the presence in its lands of a river that made the wheat mills work. As bread was a staple for many centuries, communications were established with the other urban nuclei of the island, highlighting the creation Of Pont Vell.

Centuries of history.

The constant attacks by sea forced the creation of a defensive fortress, which, although first destroyed, gave rise to the current fortification of Puig De Missa OF the 16th century. However, the population continued to distributed in the various bandages, scattered throughout the area. At the beginning of the XIX century there is an urban reform that gives place to the current street that crosses the town, Sant Jaume, and to the Paseo de S’Alamera, where the city hall of Santa Eularia Des Riu is located and where the artisan kiosks give a color Different when summer is coming.
