Beaches of Ibiza city

The beaches of Ibiza city, or Ibiza, stretching to the East of the island. Even being the capital of the island, the City of Ibiza is a small municipality, about twelve square kilometers, which limited only to the sea in one of their flanks. In this part of the coast we can find the main port of the island, from where are visitors coming mostly from Mallorca, Valencia and Barcelona, as well as being a point of departure to Formentera.

Locating the beaches of Ibiza city

If we eliminate the port area, we find three urban beaches. The Talamanca beach next to the port, and the other the Figueretas beach, separated by a fairly rocky coastline from which it is difficult to access to the sea. Continuing along this beach also permits access to playa d’ Bossa, which shares its expansion with the municipality of Sant Josep. Access to the sea, which can be found from other parts of the city but cannot be considered as beaches, if we will be used to take a bath. Must be borne in mind that these areas tend to have the problem of the urban beaches, being normal to find enough dirt in its waters, especially due to the structure of closed Creek and little current marina, making urban waste to accumulate and not they are washed away by the sea.

Despite these drawbacks, some of these accesses are often held in local festivals popular events such as the watermelon day, where people gather to taste the fruit of local culture.

And speaking of celebrations, no forget the festivities of the Earth (“Festes de la terra”), back in the month of August, with a great castle of fireworks the day six, visible perfectly from the port and Talamanca and Figueretas parties, the eight day of the same month with an even more spectacular fireworks Castle including marine fires and a show of rockets between the beach and the nearby islets.
